Malmstrom Air Force Base is home to the 341st Space Wing and is one of three U.S. Air Force Bases that maintains and operates the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile. Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana provides the forces to launch, monitor and secure the wing's Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) and missile alert facilities (MAF). These ICBMs and MAFs are dispersed over the largest missile complex in the Western Hemisphere. Malmstrom provides the Air Force with a highly mobile civil engineering response force to support contingency and special operations worldwide. Each of Malmstrom’s operations group's four missile squadrons is responsible for five Missile Alert Facilities and 50 Minuteman III ICBMs. The 10th, 12th, 490th and 564th Missile Squadrons are each complete war-fighting units. Each squadron has five two-person missile combat crews on alert duty with the support of security forces, facility managers and chefs.
